One thing to consider when you are testing and optimizing, the goal should be to identify which media mix can provide the best outcomes against your KPI’s, (key performance indicators). Usually, one media type alone will not drive the best results. This is because people consume content in so many ways, so measuring each media type in your campaign individually will not give you the entire picture. Last touch attribution is often what gets the credit when you use a mixed-media strategy like, a video, audio, digital display and social media mix. What you need to understand is what the right mix was to get the consumer to do what you wanted them to do. That’s the way to test and optimize.

Yes, know your audience, but think about them from not only a demographic but a psychographic perspective too. Their likes, preferences, lifestyle, income, education, etc. This will help you hone in on the audience and also narrow your media choices.
