Helpful to see this US data and the point about going back to basics to ensure that DEI interventions are closely tied to the business goals of individual organisations. There is a distinct difference in appetite now for trying to spread resources too thinly and do many things for the sake of it without real outcomes. Diversity & Inclusion Without Equity = Gaps In case you missed it, SHRM is dropping the ‘E’ in DE&I, shifting to Inclusion and Diversity (I&D). Since I’ve been talking about pay equity and transparency on my platform, I wanted to share why equity matters: 💼 Equal Opportunities for Advancement: Diversity might bring new faces in the door, but without equity, those faces might not see the same opportunities for advancement. 👥 No Tokenism Here: Hiring a diverse team is great, but if we’re not providing equitable support, it can feel like tokenism. People need to feel genuinely supported and valued, not just a checkbox. ❤️ Boosting Morale and Trust: Pay and opportunity inequities can kill morale and trust. When employees see real equity in action, they know the company truly values fairness, which boosts the overall vibe and trust. I will always advocate for equitable spaces because everyone deserves a fair shot at success. Because when everyone thrives, the whole company wins. Equity tackles the root causes of disparities. As a staunch advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, I firmly believe that equity is a cornerstone of creating a truly inclusive workplace. In my experience, equity is not just a buzzword; it is a necessity.
