In his third book, "Building A Learning Culture in America", Mr. Chavous' details his time as a DC council member and chair of DC's Education Committee, pulling in stories as he served in these roles as well as highlighting personal stories of those he has encountered during his time as an advocate and public speaker since leaving public office. Covering education in America from its conception to present day, Mr. Chavous discusses how we have embraced and cultivated a culture of learning in the past, and how we have since lost our way. From political gridlock to systemic discrimination, Mr. Chavous details the many ways education today is misguided, and what we can do to get back on track. Marrying personal memoir with research and observation, Building a Learning Culture is a manifesto -- advocating for us all to join in making the changes necessary for our nation's children to truly learn and for us to reestablish a learning culture as an inherent piece of our national fabric.
