I went through the 𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐀 𝐌𝐚𝐳𝐞 the other day —if you’ve ever been, you know exactly what I mean. But here’s the thing: their intentional maze is a brilliant example of user experience. IKEA’s stores are designed to 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐥𝐲 from entrance to checkout, leading them on a purposeful path that keeps them engaged and ready to buy. As a coach, consultant, or expert building your online business, your website should work the same way. It’s not just about looking good; it’s about creating a 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 that naturally guides visitors toward taking action. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰: ↳ 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Just like IKEA’s clear paths, your website should be simple to navigate. Use clean menus and logical flow to help visitors find what they need with ease. ↳ 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Simplify your sign-ups and forms. The fewer steps it takes to book a session or subscribe, the better! ↳ 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐋𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭: Use visual hierarchy to direct attention to key elements like your call-to-action, and keep choices limited to avoid overwhelming visitors. When your website is intuitive and purposeful, you’ll see higher engagement and conversions. 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞, 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐫-𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝!

--------- 𝑪𝑶𝑵𝑭𝑬𝑺𝑺𝑰𝑶𝑵𝑺 𝑶𝑭 𝑨𝑵 𝑨𝑰-𝑼𝑺𝑬𝑹 --------- If a painter uses a new type of brush, is their art less valid? 🖌️ What about a musician using digital instruments? 🎵 Or a calculator to a mathematician? 🔢 Tools evolve, pushing the boundaries of what's possible. But even with these advancements, human intelligence and creativity remain at the core. So, where does AI fit in? Is it just another tool, like those that came before, or is it fundamentally different? Is using it to enhance our work "cheating" or simply a smart use of the technology at our fingertips? Here are a few things we need to kill in our industry. Death to separating account from creatives. It creates an us versus them mindset that's old and cliché. Death to separating clients from having direct access to their creative directors. If you don't trust your CD to talk intelligently to clients, you promoted or hired the wrong person for that role. Death to strategists selling a strategy to the client before showing it to creatives. Death to leaving your producers on the side lines until the creatives sell and idea. Bring them In early. Use them as a sounding board for what's possible. Death to asking Brand or Performance? It's both. It has to be both. Death to promoting people to keep them happy or to stay at your agency. It's creating a massive gap in people who know how to make and people who know how to manage and mentor. And the work, your morale and your clients are suffering. Death to using junior creatives to come up with ideas that sell then sidelining them for production. The lack of production experience in our industry today is mind-boggling. We're making PDFs more than work. Creatives get to use their brains to think, but nobody is teaching them how to learn the craft of making work. And it shows. Just watch TV. Death to agencies that do what they're told so they can keep clients happy. If they don't trust you with their brand, or to come up with ideas they'll invest in, consider yourself on notice. Death to seaweed chips. Why do so many agencies have those in their pantry? They're super yucky. And finally, death to busy work and working late without a reason. If your CD has to wait until Friday to look at work and then makes their teams work the weekend because of their lack of time management skills, you need to drop that CD back to an ACD and let them practice how to lead and manage. IMHO, these are all the things that if we kill, things might get back to some form of "normal." #Stayhungrymyfriends
