Public Technology Institute’s Solutions Awards competition recognizes outstanding achievements in local government applications of technology that enhance community services, improve internal operations and reduce cost

CharMeck 311 call center has been honored as the first recipient of the CS Week 311 Synergy Group Award of Excellence at the annual meeting in Tampa, FL last week. The award recognizes one centralized government customer service center that consistently demonstrates a customer-focused approach to improving local government service.

Public Technology Institute’s Solutions Awards competition recognizes outstanding achievements in local government applications of technology that enhance community services, improve internal operations and reduce costs.

CharMeck 311 has been recognized for excellence in service and designated as a “Citizen-Engaged Community” by the Public Technology Institute (PTI). The designation recognizes best practices in various forms of technology including 311 services.

(Washington DC) The DC Protective Services Police Department (PSPD) announced Friday it successfully transferred its communication systems to the Unified Communications Center (UCC).To recognize the hard work to complete this transfer, PSPD issued Unit Citations and Merit Medal Awards to the Department of Real Estate Services (DRES), Office of Unified Communications (OUC) and Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

The purpose of the Council is to provide guidance and expertise on ensuring the security, reliability and interoperability of the nation's communication infrastructure and public safety communications. As an appointee, Ms. Quintana will work with other Council members to provide recommendations to the FCC that address the stability and maintenance of those initiatives. The Council will also work to ensure the communications capacity of service providers and public safety entities, and the collaboration between the two, during large scale emergencies or other disruptions.

Fenty and District Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Vivek Kundra announced that the DC Unified Communications Center (UCC) has won a major national award from the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO). OUC Director Janice Quintana said, “The UCC helps us meet and exceed national 911 response standards and deliver prompt, effective customer service to District residents, businesses, and visitors.”
The NASCIO award is the third honor won by the UCC. Last year the UCC won two other awards, the 2006 Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Project Achievement Award for construction projects valued at $50-$100 million and the Washington Building Congress Craftsmanship Award.
