At the end of last year, when investors foresaw as many as seven rate cuts this year, officials had pencilled in just three, appearing hawkish. In their more recent projections, published less than a month ago, officials still pencilled in three cuts, which now appears doveish. Just picked up this tidbit: Federal infrastructure funding offers banks, especially community banks, a significant opportunity to engage in lending for infrastructure projects. This influx of over $1 trillion for modernizing infrastructure allows banks to support financing through term loans and equipment financing, potentially boosting their #deposit and customer base.

Smaller banks and credit unions can't beat the big guys by playing their game. They have unlimited budgets... And can just win on sheer force. The way to compete with them is on advertising efficiency and local/personal touch. Less volume, yes. Smaller budget, yes. But much better targeting. And much better messaging.
