A common phrase used to discuss grief is that everyone grieves differently. While this is now common knowledge, it is still very true. So, if you or someone you love is suffering a loss, remember it looks different for everyone”, said Mrs. Orten. Listed below are some tips offered by Mrs. Orten, to deal with the different stages of Grief: - Compassion: Have compassion for yourself or someone who is going through a loss. - Embrace the Process: The process is difficult, and the feelings can be intense but sometimes it is better to acknowledge the challenging feelings vs pushing them away. It is okay, to not be okay. - Action: Find HEALTHY support, whether that is family, friends, groups, or a mental health professional. “Grief is not a linear process. The stages don’t typically happen in a chronological pattern, and you may experience a stage of grief more than once. So, remember, have compassion, it is a journey”, said Mrs. Orten.
