The GISB offers full bilingual immersion from pre-K through 12. The educational program combines a German curriculum with elements of international, American and Massachusetts educational curricula, so that our students will eventually have the choice to study at European or American universities. Our student body is very international, and GISB offers some very unique features, like cross-grade teaching.

The German Accelerator Life Sciences developed out of the "German Life Sciences Accelerator" project I started with Charlie Cameron and Frank Bobe in Boston in 2013. This public-private partnership with the German federal government helps German life science startups (drug companies, device makers, others) to navigate and enter the US market. We help teams establish contacts, find investors or customers, and establish their US presence.

It connects the disparate stakeholders in the type 1 diabetes community by combining the critical components of traditional clinical research with the expanding fields of health information technology and social networking.

T1D Exchange evolved as a solution to mitigate barriers and inefficiencies for type 1 diabetes research and development. It is a personalized exploration platform anchored in health informatics: T1D Exchange consists of Glu, an interactive website with mobile capabilities for patients and caregivers; a network of 69 clinics across the United States; and a biorepository comprising clinically annotated patient biological samples. T1D Exchange was founded in 2011 through a grant from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.

    Immigrant Learning Center

I am especially honored to receive the Immigrant Entrepreneur of the Year Award in this year of 2017-where discussion of immigration has become such a hot and yet ever more important topic. It is important to understand that we need to maintain a welcoming and attractive stance towards immigrants from all countries -one, because it is the right thing to do as a country based on immigration - but equally importantly, because it is the foundation of our competitiveness: at least half of our…

I am especially honored to receive the Immigrant Entrepreneur of the Year Award in this year of 2017-where discussion of immigration has become such a hot and yet ever more important topic. It is important to understand that we need to maintain a welcoming and attractive stance towards immigrants from all countries -one, because it is the right thing to do as a country based on immigration - but equally importantly, because it is the foundation of our competitiveness: at least half of our rapidly growing life sciences companies are founded or co-founded by immigrants. The same is true in the tech sector.
If we lose the competitive race for this talent and they decide to build their careers elsewhere, we all lose out. It is important to forcefully repel the false "immigrants are stealing our jobs" narrative.
