“Josh and I worked together for five years, co-laboring in the establishment of a large and complex national mission effort. I have seen Josh’s skills in that time. Those listed below are just a few of the many areas where I think Josh shines. Integrity. Working hard on a complex project, over many years, you get an understanding for a person’s character. Josh not only lives the highest character, he modeled integrity for the whole of the company. I did not once see Josh compromise the high trust given to us by funders, donors, or the community. That value is critical for a social enterprise, where the company is allotted a deep trust by many. Josh lives and calls others to integrity. I so appreciated this mission-critical value in a social enterprise co-laborer. Business versatility! Josh can do and has done it all. I saw Josh excel in areas as far-ranging as strategy development, sales, program operations and design, customer engagement, compliance, policy, philanthropy, evaluation, IT management, and finance. Josh’s business skills are deep. And Josh has exceptional business judgement, with an instinct for the right strategic choices. Josh would be a gift to any organization using him in a very senior leadership role. And Josh would make an exceptional chief executive and/or executive director should he wish to accept such a role. A board of directors would be lucky to have Josh’s skills and a staff would be grateful to work for Josh. Plod! Building a corporation is tough work. It taxes the emotions… and the discretionary time. I have seen Josh come early, stay late, work weekends, and continue in efforts for years. Nonprofit work has a wonderful payoff, but the investment often takes years. Josh is one to “stick with it” and see the work finished. Josh has the strength and the willingness to plod forward with the work and see it done. Joyful! Josh loves people. Josh loves serving people. Josh loves raising up people. When I first met Josh, our first conversation was about new ways he wished to create to serve new populations in smarter ways. Working with Josh over 5 years, I saw him raise a team of capable folks, to excellence, with much encouragement and kindness. For me, Josh was a joy to work with – lots of laughter, lots of sharp logic, and lots of meaningful conversation.
