Even if the projections for political ad spending on CTV are somewhat overly optimistic, there's still a lot to be encouraged about here with CTV spending projected to grow 5X vs. the 2020 political cycle. It's also interesting to note that 81% of CTV ad spending is now programmatic, underscoring the critical importance of building and maintaining a well-designed ad stack for any ad-supported CTV player. Ultimately if you farm out data strategy to vendors you get a ton of attribution without a corresponding sales lift. One of the most "profitable" things for a media network to do is target someone who is certain to buy. A consumer buys Cheerios every Friday, so the Network serves a Cheerios ad on Friday and takes credit for the sale. It's why having a strong inhouse or agency data science team who can model incremental sales vs just general sales is so key. It's also a reminder that simply targeting known purchasers isn't growing the business. #datadriven
