(MEXICO 18.04.24) #avocados Mexican avocado production projected to grow 5% in 2024 [AG: Australian avocado production 2024?] Mexico's avocado production is projected to increase by 5% in 2024, reaching 2.77 million tons according to a USDA report https://lnkd.in/gj7NUxuM This follows a 4% increase in production in 2023, with exports totaling 1.4 million tons, a 17% increase from the previous year. The U.S. remains the primary market for Mexican avocado exports, accounting for 81% of the market share, followed by Canada, Japan and Spain. Mexico is the world leader in avocado production, driven by export demand and rising domestic consumption. Global avocado exports are expected to exceed 3 million metric tons by 2025, with Latin America leading the way. Mexico, Peru and Colombia will be the largest avocado exporters, while Brazil, Ecuador and other countries are emerging as global suppliers. Africa is experiencing steady growth, especially in Kenya and Morocco. While Hass avocados will continue to dominate, Hass-like varieties will gradually gain ground, especially those with higher yield potential. The industry is facing price pressure as global production volumes increase, with quality and size being key factors in the American and European markets.
