Join me in celebrating this important milestone for our Walgreens RWE Clinical Trials team, who today announce the following: * Walgreens received a project award valued up to $25 million through the Rapid Response Partnership Vehicle (RRPV) to conduct a Phase IV observational clinical study focused on assessing responses to a vaccine that predict how well a vaccinated person will be protected from future infections, using COVID-19 vaccine data. * This agreement marks BARDA’s first time parting with a major retail pharmacy to use a community-centered approach to increase access and representation in clinical research. * The BARDA-funded study will enroll up to 4,000 participants across 20 retail pharmacy locations nationwide. * This initiative not only aims to enhance access to clinical trials but also focuses on increasing representation from communities historically underrepresented in clinical research. By leveraging its extensive network of community pharmacies, Walgreens is uniquely positioned to address disparities in clinical trial participation. Summer Reading List - there is still time to get through a few of these! 1. Becoming Better Grownups. You might want to start here, a delightful book that takes advice from the very young and the very old to help you be a better grown-up. 2. Giovanni's Room and/or The Picture of Dorian Gray. Two very different classics. In a time of audio-visual, let Baldwin and Wilde reawaken in you the joy of good writing. 3. The Last Campaign and/or Black Against Empire. Why not look at American History through a different lens. The first provides a view from the American Natives and the second from the American's who were forcefully imported. 4. A History of the World in Six Glasses and/or The Black Count. Perhaps you are into world history. If you drink beer, wine, spirits, tea, coffee or cola, then the first book is for you. If you like the Count of Monte Cristo, the Three Musketeers or work for Capgemini then perhaps the second book which provides the biography of the real man those stories are based. 5. Thick and/or The Socrates Express. If you are a thinker, then these are for you. Cottom who has been called, "one of the finest public intellectuals writing today" book Thick will challenge you. And Weiner's book will help you distill wisdom from Rousseau to Nietzsche, Confucius to Simone Weil, Socrates to Simone de Beauvoir. 6. Perchance to Dream. Okay, the ones above too heavy for you, pressed for time? Then audio book this collection of stories by Charles Beaumont. He wrote some of your favorite Twilight Zone episodes.
