This is a great ScienceForWork podcast on #burnout with Lydia Fogo Johnson, MS, ACC. Everyone should listen to this. The two most important evidence-based points for me from the podcast are: 1. There are different types of burnout that exist in #organisational settings including a)overload burnout b)lack-of-purpose burnout c)neglect burnout d)under-challenged burnout. All these different types, manifest differently and require different interventions. 2. Placing all the onus on employees to manage their stress responses is not sufficient. Intervention is needed at multiple levels (combined intervention). For example, leaders need to know how to regulate their stress responses, not just employees, the organisation needs to mitigate burnout at the leadership level so it does not trickle-down, and job crafting might be helpful in roles where job demands exceed job resources. Both of these points do require a shift in thinking when it comes of burnout. Finally, it is really worth listening to Lydia talk about the shift to remote work following the pandemic and how this impacted women and working mothers, as well as how remote work may be related to burnout more generally.

Here, we address the theoretical and methodological challenges of authentically carrying out #intersectionality work using #quantitative data.
