The first step is to clearly define the problem statement as thoroughly as possible. Next, I'll identify service providers who not only understand my industry but also have a proven track record in delivering similar services. To ensure I'm making the right choice, I'll conduct due diligence by reviewing their resumes and profiles and reaching out to trusted references. For me personally, its crutial to assure the service provider has done the work before not only as a consultant, but also as the process owner.

As a dedicated practitioner of lean methodologies, deeply immersed in its principles, and having developed commercial lean manufacturing software utilized by thousands, I emphasize the importance of understanding lean philosophy before integrating technologies. The rationale behind this is clear: while technology can streamline and optimize processes, it requires existing processes to streamline in the first place. Neglecting the development of these processes and solely relying on technology to resolve all issues is not a viable approach

How can you find the most cost-effective lean manufacturing tools for small businesses?
The initial step is to grasp the theory underlying lean manufacturing. Rushing into tool usage before comprehending the principles and philosophy significantly increases the risk of failure. Once the concept, purpose, and mechanics of lean manufacturing are understood, organizations should focus on training their teams in available tools and techniques. This ensures the team can judiciously select the appropriate tools for each unique opportunity.

What do you do if your team is spending too much time on non-value-added activities in Lean Manufacturing?
It's important to recognize that addressing operational issues often requires a series of actions rather than a single isolated one. One crucial step is understanding why there's excess time spent on non-value-added activities. Are there clear standard work procedures outlining what needs to be accomplished? If the answer is yes, and daily objectives are being met with spare time remaining, then assessing the capacity model becomes essential. However, if tasks remain incomplete despite time being diverted to non-value-added activities, then it's time to scrutinize target settings and standard work procedures for potential adjustments. But in this process, I'll engage them as much as it makes sense.

Cash Flow Optimization in a Multi-Project Environment

In this paper, we address the problem of budget allocation in a multi-project environment under uncertainty. The uncertainty is in the completion time of milestones of individual projects. Companies have the opportunity to invest funds allocated for these projects and also to borrow funds to pay the subcontractors at each milestone for a predetermined amount. The corresponding mathematical model is a linear programming model with stochastic due dates. We propose heuristic methods to solve this…
In this paper, we address the problem of budget allocation in a multi-project environment under uncertainty. The uncertainty is in the completion time of milestones of individual projects.
