If you have a damage from a possible claim, submit it. You need a company appointed adjuster for to review and make that coverage decision. The agent that sold you the policy is not licensed to extend or decline coverage on your claim. A legitimately filed claim that results in a decision either way will come on company letterhead, either a detailed claim summary of payment, a declination letter citing where in the policy excludes this type of loss and who to get into contact with if an insured has follow up questions. To be clear, a verbal declination by the agent is not a decision by the company. That is just an agents opinion, it doesn’t mean they’re wrong but they do not have the authority to extend or deny coverage. Submit your claim to get it properly reviewed.
