Disability Pride Month celebrates the contributions, achievements, and identities of people with disabilities. It’s a month dedicated to recognizing the diversity of the disability community, raising awareness about the challenges they face, and advocating for inclusion and accessibility. REMINDER: NEW YORK STATE ENACTS PAID LACTATION BREAKS Employers are now required to provide 30 minutes of paid break time for breast milk expression, and to permit the employee to use existing paid break time or meal time for lactation time needed in excess of thirty minutes. Recruiting tip for recruiters and candidates Have you ever heard the term candidate experience? As a recruiter, it's my opinion that giving a superior candidate experience is just about the best thing that can happen on any day. When we have a requisition for one job and there are many candidates you know that only one of them is going to get the job but you don't know which one. I have a consultative approach in other words as I am screening candidates, I talk to them about all kinds of things such as interviewing skills and making a good impression. When the time comes to notify candidates that did not move forward,I always offer to help them find a more suitable job on our website. I have assisted many people in finding jobs that were not my jobs. I could not even begin to tell you how many lovely letters and notes I received from candidates that I did not hire expressing their gratitude for the interview process like one never had before. If you want to leave a lasting impression on your candidates, make sure that their experience with you is the best they ever had. If you are a candidate , make a good impression on the recruiter so that he or she will drop your resume and get into a file of good candidates for particular jobs. I have gone to that resume file many times and able to hire people that I could not hire the first time around. Believe it or not, I still hear from people that I placed in jobs more than 20 years ago and it's very gratifying to me. There was nothing like feeling good about yourself at the end of every day because you gave somebody a great candidate experience.
