The one thing I love most about my work, leading teams and working in sales, is the diverse perspectives I get to hear. As someone in the sports industry, I often interact with executives from a wide range of industries. While I may not always fully grasp every detail, these conversations expose me to higher-level thinking and offer a bird’s-eye view of how different sectors approach challenges and opportunities. I also get to understand their needs, desires, and the unique experiences they want to craft when they’re seeking bespoke travel solutions. Recently, while having a conversation with a childhood friend, she asked- "Doesn’t all this info and perspective ever feel like overload? Isn’t it too much sometimes?" I said- "Sure, there’s a lot to process. But instead of viewing it as an overload, I see it as a well of opportunities. Each perspective adds value, expands my thinking, and challenges me to innovate." Well, I have been through a lot of training and exposing myself to different situations, that I developed this mindset, but how do you cater to your own filters and stay open to new perspectives? Well, here’s what worked for me and can work for you as well: ➡️ Acknowledge your biases: Be aware of your default thinking patterns and challenge them. ➡️ Seek out unfamiliar perspectives: Talk to people outside your usual circles- different industries, backgrounds, or roles. ➡️ Be willing to listen: Listen to understand, not just to respond. Allow the conversation to reshape your thoughts. ➡️ Filter for relevance, not comfort: Ask yourself whether the information is useful or challenging, rather than whether it fits what you already know. ➡️ Stay curious: The more curious you are, the more open you become to new insights and opportunities. Opening yourself up to different perspectives can transform your life 360 degrees. Try it out and see for yourself! As someone rightly said- "The mind is like a parachute.
