The mission of Samaritans is to reduce the incidence of suicide by alleviating despair, isolation, distress and suicidal feelings among individuals in our community, 24 hours a day; to educate the public about suicide prevention; and to reduce the stigma associated with suicide. Samaritans accomplishes this through services that emphasize confidential, non-judgmental, and compassionate listening.

The mission of Samaritans is to reduce the incidence of suicide by alleviating despair, isolation, distress and suicidal feelings among individuals in our community, 24 hours a day; to educate the public about suicide prevention; and to reduce the stigma associated with suicide. Samaritans accomplishes this through services that emphasize confidential, non-judgmental, and compassionate listening.

Samaritans’ HelpLine volunteers, staff, and Board of Directors implement and steer the mission. A collection of professionals with talent, time, and relationships in the fields of law, marketing, brand building, advocacy and finance can augment this work. This is the role of the Samaritan’s Council.
The topic of suicide is delicate and emotionally difficult to engage, yet touches an enormous number of people. The Council provides insights and resources that Samaritans needs, offering them with a particular kind of care, compassion, and generosity of spirit that are distinctive among volunteer organizations.

Council members support Samaritans’ fundraising efforts, help to raise the visibility of Samaritans by introducing others to the organization and are available as a resource to senior management. Show less

UCB members earn social and financial rewards for their community involvement and volunteerism through our innovative mobile-app loyalty program and Civic Engagement Framework. The UCB App is the only resource aggregator in Boston that lists hundreds of events and programs and allows individuals to build resumes of volunteerism and activism. UCB Network Leaders build relationships of trust with members, connecting them to resources and each other in order to build a resilient and networked community. Through its many iterations over the past century, The North Scituate Beach Improvement Association has held true to the same singular mission first laid out by Mr. Frederick Butts and his associates in late July of 1897.

Whether it involved the creation of the first sea walls to protect our beach against winter storms or interceding on behalf of our community and membership on town related issues, working to preserve the quality of our beach and our neighborhood remains our primary… Show more
