Dr. Jeffrey Funk, your observations and those of Daniel Yang are on point and really get back to an age-old issue. The quality and relevance of the output is only as good as the quality of the input data. And AI puts the good and bad effects on steroids. AI trying to go a step too far causes more harm than good and could make firms more leery of AI overall. AI can, as you point out, be extremely valuable at the process and procedure level. I recommend following the best practice of "cleaning" the data prior to any attempt at a more advanced use. The beneficial effects of cleaning will have far reaching positive effects, then amplified by AI. There is no one-size-fits all solution to these complex issues, but there is now forming an ecosystems of innovative tools ( some AI) to help support the supply chain of "medical data and process workflow automation". 🚀 Exciting News! 🚀 I am thrilled to announce the publication of our latest research paper, Enhancing Patient Outcome Predictions Through Differential Privacy with Optimized RNN Model Applied to Electronic Health Records, which introduces a novel method for predicting patient admission and discharge events using Electronic Health Records (EHR) while prioritizing the protection of personal privacy. Our approach utilizes Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) model enhanced with a Differential Privacy mechanism, ensuring a balance between high-accuracy outcome predictions and the confidentiality of patient data. Through this research, we demonstrated the effectiveness of our method, with the Random Forest classifier proving to be the most accurate among six different classifiers tested. This work significantly advances the field of healthcare informatics, combining cutting-edge predictive models with stringent privacy safeguards. It's a step forward in achieving precise clinical predictions while upholding our moral responsibility to protect patient privacy in the digital health records era. Grand Rounds - What Principle Investigators can learn from Product Managers. Such an honor to give grand rounds at #RoswellParkComprehensiveCancerCenter. I presented my favorite topic, "What #PIs, especially those in #clinical #translationalresearch, can learn from #PMs and vice versa" I spent my career as a #researcher validating highly effective #fallprevention and #healthpromotion interventions for #olderadults, but had limited impact at scale. I am all about impact. I transitioned to #digitalhealth to build my #productstrategy skills. My challenge to colleagues in #research and grant reviewers Think like a #productmanager and include outcomes linked to market adoption. #principalinvestigators have their hands full doing way too many things, but consider outcomes like #productivity, #timesavings, and impact on #revenue when testing interventions to bridge the bench to bedside chasm. Think about the end user for the results from your study. Who are these results important for? What is important to them? Cost savings? Better patient outcomes? Time Savings? Happier employees? Think about workflow - once you have proven effectiveness/efficacy, who will be able to implement your intervention? Can your intervention easily integrate into the #clinical #workflow? If not, what modifications do you need to make? When disseminating results - in addition to your colleagues, what other groups will be interested outside of research and healthcare? Are their other stakeholders who could benefit from your findings? #bridgethechasm #healthcare #digitalhealth #productmanagement
