I assumed a role within an international 501(c)3 to impact a local community by implementing the knowledge and cultural competencies I had learned throughout my undergraduate degree. I was responsible for the design, implemention and follow up analysis of a regional socioeconomic study (census) while representing Vidas de Esparanza and its goals in the various villages. I partnered with these communities in an effort to improve health education/awareness in local schools and gather household data for grant proposals. I organized fundraisers and events to gather support and donotions of school supplies, clothing, personal care products, etc... for children who were living on less than $1 a day. My main responsibilities included traveling door-to-door among households, gathering data for the project. I also attended United Nations and local government conferences in an effort to gain support from local, state and national influencers. Using the data I gathered and my experiences within these communities, I developed a detailed report and created a database to be included in a grant proposal for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
