Two words, “group flow”. To bring a team together you want to create group flow, where each member of the team is perfectly synchronized, contributing their best efforts seamlessly and efficiently. This is achieved through the below triggers. - Shared Goals: Everyone working towards the same objectives. -Shared Risk: Each having a stake in the outcome. -Yes, and: Building on each other’s ideas constructively. -Complete Concentration: All being fully present and focused. -Sense of Control: Members feeling they have a say in the process. -Blending Egos: Submerging individual needs for the group's benefit. -Equal Participation: All members contributing equally. -Constant Communication : Keeping open lines of dialogue for immediate feedback.

One thing I have learned is that it is usually riskier being stagnant than trying something new. When you step away from your comfort zone and choice to challenge yourself, life tends to surprise you. But you need to be fully committed. Where people fall short is when they have one foot in and one foot out, not giving the new opportunity a 100% try. If you aren’t fully committed, this is where “failure” occurs and then you step back into your self-fulfilling prophecy, convincing yourself to stay with the “safer” option. My most successful deals and roles I have taken on, with the biggest rewards, were all out of my comfort zone. But I always stuck with it and figured out a way.

One of my favorite quotes is, “Turn rejection into redirection!” We all get rejected at different points in our life, but if it turns into a pattern then it time to potentially redirect our energy. Go back to the fundamentals. What are your strengths and what are your weaknesses? Then ask yourself if your past work and/or current opportunities you are seeking tap into your strengths? Your strengths grow quicker than improving your weaknesses and will likely make you stand out. You may need to find a better way of demonstrating your strengths or find opportunities that utilize them. One final important tip, acknowledge that you might be 1 in 100 applying, so make sure you have something unique that will make you standout.
