As I reflect on my journey at York IE, I can hardly believe it’s been 5 years since I first joined this amazing team! What an incredible ride it’s been—from managing operations solo to now leading a thriving team of 175+ talented individuals. When York IE first looked to expand into India, it was about building trust—trust that we could tackle new challenges and lay the foundation for something truly impactful. We began by supporting a single startup, and today, we’re proud to work with 100+ clients across diverse sectors! India has become the heart of our operations. It’s not just an extension of our team—it’s a critical part of our global strategy. Our offshore execution center has been instrumental in driving growth, allowing us to expand into markets across Europe and APAC while enabling us to take on increasingly complex challenges. Of course, no journey is without its hurdles. We’ve navigated real estate constraints, the skills gap in certain areas, the challenge of rapidly scaling our team, and many other obstacles along the way. But every challenge has been a lesson that’s made us more agile, resilient, and determined to succeed. Looking ahead, I couldn’t be more excited about what’s next. The founder role is full of surprises, but this was something nobody prepared me for… If you are a visionary/founder, game changing information will be delivered to you at any given second. The second you consciously take a day off or step away to care for your kids, 💥. It comes. The good AND the hard. In this case, it was great. It was a weeknight in February of 2023 and nearly 9pm. I had just gotten my son to bed and was in the season of life where I spent a LOT of time on a bean bag in the corner of his room hiding under a blanket with my phone out wrapping stuff up from the day until he fell asleep. 💥 Subject Line: York IE Term Sheet. After a long journey to raise a seed round, it was happening. And not only was it happening - it was happening with a team of people that aligned with my values and the values of Creatively Focused. They understood the value I brought to my role as CEO. They understood the path ahead as previous founders themselves. They believed in the great opportunity ahead where I could lead our team to helping every educator feel their job could be a career. So, why am I sharing this now? For visionaries to hear two things… 1. There is no such thing as work hours and personal life hours when you are building something impactful. You can, however, create boundaries for you and those around you that support your mind. 2. Be intentional about who you surround yourself with. Every person, team, or firm you bring in will make your days easier or harder.
