About us

Helping people is what we’re all about at the Y, and has been from the start. We strengthen the foundations of community by nurturing the potential in every child, by promoting healthy living, and by giving back to our community. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. At the Y, we are so much more than a gym. We are a cause. We are the leading non-profit, committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

We are hiring! Here is an incredible opportunity to join a highly experienced, cause-driven team at a progressive mid-major YMCA. The YMCA is looking to build on an extraordinary history of facility growth, program quality, community support and strong fiscal position to deepen and broaden our impact in a large, diverse service area of greater Waukesha County and the western suburban area of metropolitan Milwaukee. The Association Director of Finance oversees and manages the strategic short and long-term financial affairs of the organization and evaluates opportunities to ensure steady growth and the fiscal strength of the organization. The position is responsible for outlining strategic initiatives with the CEO, COO, and other senior leadership staff in the development of financial policies and best practices to ensure appropriate implementation. As the finance department lead and supervision of an experienced and talented full time accounting specialist, the Director is responsible for budgeting, general accounting, cash management, auditing, preparation of financial reports, board reporting, and bank relationships. A strong and supportive Association administrative leadership team is in place as the Association Director of Finance works closely with the Association Director of Human Resources, and the Association Director of Business Services. • 🌱🥗 What an incredible plant-based cooking demo we had yesterday led by our amazing Registered Dietitian, Laurie! 🙌✨ Laurie guided us through making mouthwatering black bean burgers that were an absolute hit! 🍔💚 We also enjoyed a vibrant arugula salad with olives, feta, and fresh dill – sensational! 🥗🌿 As a special treat, we used Cherokee Summer Crisp lettuce from our hydroponic garden at the West Suburban YMCA! 🌱 This crisp, fresh lettuce was a star in our salad, and participants were able to take home freshly picked parsley, chives, and lettuce. 🥬🌿🍃 Plus, everyone had a chance to be hands-on in the kitchen and assemble their own fruit salads, topped with a tangy poppy seed dressing that took the flavor to the next level. 🍓🍍🍊 A huge thanks to Laurie for her expertise and passion. You made healthy eating not just informative but also fun and delicious! 👏 You can catch Laurie and Clancy next month in the New Berlin teaching kitchen as they lead a demo on Sheet Pan Meals: https://bit.ly/3WIqrwB

  • 🌱🌿 Big shoutout to Juan from Mount Mary University for his work with our hydroponic garden! At the West Suburban YMCAs Healthy Living table, Juan distributed bags of Cherokee Summer Crisp Lettuce and parsley grown right here in our Fork Farms hydroponic garden. 🥬🌿 Members had the chance to learn about our programs, check their blood pressure, grab a Fork Farms sticker, and take home some fresh, nutritious produce. Thank you, Juan, for helping us promote healthy living and sustainable gardening in our community! • Continuing education is essential in cancer care, ensuring professionals stay updated with the latest research and best practices. Recently, at the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County, we had the privilege of learning from our very own Lauren Phillips, an Exercise Physiologist with expertise in cancer exercise through her work with the CURE program at Carroll University. Lauren provided invaluable guidance on the importance of exercise for cancer survivors in our LIVESTRONG program. We also received information on nutrition and cancer from Juan, a student at Mount Mary University completing his dietetics internship with the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County's healthy living department. Together, Lauren and Juan delivered an impactful presentation that will benefit all our LIVESTRONG instructors and staff members interested in enhancing their knowledge of exercise protocols for cancer patients.
