With support from the California Arts Council, #YBCA provided 48 Bay Area artists with a living wage for over a year as they partnered with local nonprofits on creative collaborations. Known as the #CreativeCorpsInitiative, each artist led a project to inspire and uplift their communities — focused on civic engagement, climate justice, community wellness, or social justice. We are honored to announce the Mendsmith Project by artist Nick Dong. This project began after Dong created a new jewelry piece by combining a friend's wedding rings following her husband's passing. As part of “Nick Dong: 11 to 88,” #YBCA invites you to participate in this project by submitting your story and the objects you’d like to "mend” into a new commemoration. Between 10 and 15 submissions will be selected for Nick Dong and California College of the Arts students to combine onsite at YBCA from July 29 to August 18.
