The mission of the Wylde Center is to support resilient communities by connecting people to nature through environmental education and public greenspace. Within the dense urban landscape of Atlanta, Wylde Center manages eight acres of greenspace across five garden sites. We provide year-round opportunities to garden and grow food, programs that teach environmental stewardship, and nature-based learning for children. Wylde Center was founded in 1997 out of a need to provide opportunities to experience nature in an urban environment. As a result of the community’s involvement and commitment, the organization has evolved into a large and active nonprofit organization operating five greenspaces (Oakhurst Garden, Sugar Creek Garden, Hawk Hollow, Edgewood Community Learning Garden, and the Mulberry Fields Garden) in four different Decatur and Atlanta neighborhoods, open year round for the community, for events and for Wylde Center’s educational programs.

Exhausting but rewarding week with two very deserving recipients of Fiskars Group’s Project Orange Thumb program. Over 20+ years this program has helped more than 400 school and community gardens across the US and Canada through grants and volunteerism. I was honored to begin leading this program last year, and this is the first time I had the opportunity to experience it in person. It's just one piece of Fiskars' long history, and as part of our 375th anniversary, we are revisiting a few gardens we’ve supported along the way. All these gardens (new and returning) are doing such great things in their communities, and it is both energizing and humbling to play a small role in their own stories. Nothing like a day in the garden to recharge and let innovative ideas take root. 💐 🌻 🌷 April was International Volunteer Month, so the Go Studio team took to the Wylde Center Oakhurst Garden yesterday to help repot over 200 plants. One of our favorites is the elderberry plant, which is great for teas and extracts known to support respiratory health.
