Landmarks Illinois awarded the Ramova Theatre in Chicago with a 2024 Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Award in the Adaptive Use category. The organization also awarded the historic Lawson House in Chicago with the Richard H. Driehaus Legacy Award and the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Award in the Rehabilitation category. For the Ramova Theatre, we served as the facade and interior restoration consultant for the rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of the 1,800-person live music venue and destination space, featuring a craft brewery, taproom, and grill. For the Lawson House, we provided peer review services for the building enclosure during the rehabilitation of the building, a twenty-four-story Art Deco skyscraper that now houses more than four hundred apartment units for low-income residents. Congratulations to Ramova Theatre Project Manager Rachel Will and Lawson House Project Manager Tony Cinnamon and to their teams on these award-winning projects!

As a procedure, hydrogen bake-out is used in many process industries, such as oil and gas, chemicals, and petrochemicals, to help remove hydrogen that has dissolved in metals before performing welding. Typically, hydrogen can enter steel via diffusion or chemical reactions at the surface. Once within the metallic matrix, it can make the steel brittle and/or prone to fracture through several mechanisms collectively called hydrogen embrittlement. In this article, mechanical engineer Scott Bouse discusses hydrogen bake-out and shares industry applications and recommendations: https://ow.ly/VhAR50T9Upl Learn more about our Metallurgy and Applied Mechanics services: https://ow.ly/UWzN50T9UL8
