Will County Emergency Management Agency reposted this
It's National Dam Safety Awareness Day - a call to action and a reminder that dams in our communities should be properly inspected and maintained. FEMA offers numerous resources and grant funding opportunities to support dam safety in communities across the country. In fact, our $38 million investment into the Mineral Ridge Dam will help the Ohio Emergency Management Agency and the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District reduce the risks of downstream flooding and protect the drinking water for more than 220,000 people in and around Youngstown, OH. It's part of our plan to make communities safer and stronger. And that's what happens when local, state, and federal partners work together. Check out the video to see what upgrades are in store for the Mineral Ridge Dam. Over the past five years, Will County Emergency Management Agency, in collaboration with local police, fire, and dispatch agencies, has hosted a series of trainings focused on enhancing command and control among first responders. These trainings empower agencies to act decisively in the early stages of any incident. These efforts have gained national recognition, with other states looking to adopt this program. At the most recent training, representatives from a county in Missouri attended, expressing interest in implementing a similar program. By prioritizing training and collaboration, we ensure that we are ready to face any challenge and emerge stronger together.
