About us
The Wild Alaskan Company offers an online direct-to-consumer membership service for premium wild-caught seafood. By joining our monthly seafood program, you’ll receive a box of sustainably harvested seafood every month. We source the highest quality seafood from top Alaskan and Pacific Northwest fisheries and ship it directly to your home. If you’re like most Americans, you probably find it difficult to consistently buy premium grade seafood. Seafood fraud is running rampant in many parts of this country. In fact, a 2015 Oceana report showed that more than 40% of salmon in grocery stores and restaurants was mislabeled. So, unless you have a trusted source, you’re likely not eating what you think you are. With the Wild Alaskan Company, our goal is to create a fully transparent sea-to-table experience, where you always: 1. Know the source of your wild-caught, sustainably harvested seafood. 2. Have direct and regular access to a variety of wild-caught species from Alaska, which we’ll curate for you based on seasonality and availability. Think of us as your personal fishmonger!

The experienced Home Port team uses a mix of hands-on knife skills and specialized equipment to process high-quality cuts of fish into perfectly portioned fillets for a variety of sustainable seafood vendors (including Wild Alaskan Company, of course). Typically, the fish fillets you receive in your WAC box are portioned while frozen, cut expertly with a bandsaw — with surprising accuracy and efficiency. Yup, a person does this! A literal person picks out each piece of seafood that’s packed in every WAC box. Wild Alaskan Company sources wild-caught seafood from Alaska. To get this seafood from Alaska to you, we work with regional fulfillment centers across the country — that’s where your box gets packed with your order, along with compostable insulation and plenty of dry ice for the journey to your doorstep. The WAC team recently had the opportunity to join a fulfillment crew on the “pick and pack” line. You've all seen the videos during Fat Bear Week of big grizzlies up in Alaska feasting on salmon jumping from the depths of a river. This, too, is a bear eating salmon 🐻 🐟 . Although it's not a whole salmon, this salmon is a small piece of a much bigger story. Every week, a very small share of Wild Alaskan Company shipments show up a day or two later than they should've at members' doorsteps. Istead of dry ice and frozen blocks of sustenance, members experience, well, the opposite. A few years back, Carl Minor, who's on the Member Experience team, noticed a problem... and an opportunity. Members were tossing out their delivery that wasn't safe for human consumption. Why not find that thawed fish another home? Carl took the initiative to set up a reference guide, so the WAC Member Experience team could suggest to members a nearby wildlife sanctuary that would accept a seafood donation. Oscar, and many other animals across the country, are now able to feast on WAC seafood, thanks to Carl's initiative. Always empower the team that's closest to the problem to help solve the problem. It was our distinct honor to work with Jacques Spitzer and the very talented team at Raindrop to craft this piece. We poured our hearts into crafting a commercial to acknowledge how difficult it can be to find quality seafood in America while having a fun, light-hearted celebration of why we take so much pride in offering wild-caught seafood from Alaska.
