We’re excited to be mentioned in Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future (SAHF)'s latest blog, which highlights the importance of resident agency, voice, and satisfaction in affordable housing. At WYL, we believe every resident deserves to feel empowered and heard in their communities. Platforms like ours are essential in providing real-time, actionable feedback that helps housing providers make meaningful improvements. Check out SAHF’s new resource guide on how housing providers can take practical steps to center residents' voices: https://lnkd.in/eEyCV-iK #AffordableHousing #ResidentEmpowerment #ResidentAgency
Measuring residents' perceptions of agency, voice, and belonging is a critical step toward creating more equitable, healthy communities. We’re excited to share our latest blog post highlighting our updated resource guide, “Revisiting Measuring Agency & Voice,” which focuses on centering residents' voices in affordable housing. This guide offers practical steps for housing providers to assess whether residents feel empowered and engaged in their communities, building on our ongoing commitment to improving resident well-being. Our work on measuring agency and voice is made possible thanks to the generous support of the RWJF. We’re the change we’ve been waiting for. On Saturday, through our partnership with the Office of the New York City Public Advocate, I got to stand side by side with residents of this Bronx building and use my voice and our platform to push for change. The story behind this building is that it’s owned by objectively one of the worst landlords in NYC. Matter of fact, this landlord has topped “NYC’s Worst Landlord List” for the last two years running and was recently jailed at Rikers for being a slumlord. Residents have complained of leaks, rats, trash, mold, unreliable heat and hot water, peeling lead paint, and more. Proud of these residents for using their voices. Proud of the organizations and elected officials who’ve used their resources and time. Proud of the WYL Team for doing its part. Learn more about our partnership with the New York City Office of the Public Advocate by visiting watchlist.wyl.co. We see you NYC 🗽📣🤞🏾 #wyl #residenttrusted #moremore

The MIC Team recently sat down with Ofo Ezeugwu, CEO and Founder of Whose Your Landlord (WYL) and Ariel Yarrish, Senior Manager, Account Management and ESG of Esusu - a Gold Founding Member of our organization - to discuss how to use technology to drive resident engagement and why digital tools are indispensable in achieving this multifamily impact goal. What should multifamily owners and operators avoid when considering technology as it relates to resident engagement? Ariel: multifamily owners and operators should have clear goals and objectives that align with the company’s ethos and mission when determining technology solutions. Remember, one size doesn’t fit all, and they should look for solutions that take into consideration their specific residents demographics and needs, but also their long-term vision. At Esusu, we offer property management level support through our Account Management and Customer Success Team, ensuring every level of the organization is familiar with the technology and understands the benefits it brings not just to the residents, but also to the company at large. “Finally, there’s attention being paid toward how renters are actually experiencing the time living in any particular building or apartment. That matters," said Ofo Ezeugwu, founder of WYL. #housing #startups #Buffalo #WNY

From a college idea intended to help students better find their next home to being appointed to do much the same and a whole lot more at the federal level. I’m honored to share that I’ve been selected as one of the inaugural members of the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) Advisory Committee on Affordable, Equitable, and Sustainable Housing. And, I’m excited to serve alongside such diverse and inspiring Leaders. Our term begins this fall and our focus will be across many housing topics: affordability, fair housing, tenant advocacy, single-family and multifamily lending and servicing, affordable housing development, capital markets, and technology - all to better inform FHFA’s policy development, rulemaking, and community and public engagement. Proud of my Team WYL and of our work. 💜⚡️ https://lnkd.in/efKUvSeb #fromstudentgovernmenttofederalgovernment #wyl #residenttrusted #homeprovider #moremore

Such a Great time sharing space and perspectives at HUD’s Housing Innovation Showcase in DC on Friday. Much appreciation to U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and National Multifamily Housing Council for inviting me to speak on behalf of WYL and alongside other Leaders in housing: Alecia Hill, MPA (our incredible moderator), Hugh Frater, Brady Nolan, and Gus Cabrera. We spoke about how to improve resident experiences through innovation in public and multifamily housing and we shared what role each of our organizations are playing in improving the Lives and living conditions of renters across the country.
