In an effort to combat crime, Congress passed into law the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) as part of the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020 in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021.1 The CTA (31 U.S.C. § 5336) requires certain businesses to report beneficial ownership information (BOI) to the US Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Attorneys and staff at Whitfield & Eddy Law and friends celebrated the fifth annual Mark Cady Day of Public Service on Friday, October 25, 2024. Every year we go over to the Birdland Marina area to do a cleanup of the neighborhood and the north side of the Des Moines river up to Sixth Avenue. It is a lot of hard work, but is a great way to moralize the late Iowa Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Cady.
