As wildfires continue to impact forests across North America, including those we manage in British Columbia, we're committed to working closely with First Nations, provincial leadership and local stakeholders to help the forests regenerate using all the tools available, from salvage harvesting to replanting. In this video from the BC Ministry of Forests, learn about how collaboration is the key to recovery. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay

When you ask Peter Yoneshige, operations supervisor at our distribution center in Tacoma, Washington, about his Weyerhaeuser career, he says it fell into his lap. Peter was hired as a temporary forklift operator at our distribution center in Redding, California, picking and trimming materials and loading trucks. After just six months, he was hired as a full-time employee. And as he got comfortable in the site and the business, he began thinking about how to expand his career and grow his responsibilities. Then in 2022, the operations supervisor role in Tacoma opened up. Though neither Peter nor his wife Katie knew anyone in the Tacoma area, the possibilities of making a new life and advancing Peter’s career were enough incentive to make the move. “I’m always working to move up," Peter says. "I work hard to learn as quickly as I can and find out how to be more useful. I think that mentality can go a long way. There’s so much opportunity in our Distribution business, and I’m super excited to see what I can do from here.” Learn more about Peter's career journey. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay #meetourpeople https://lnkd.in/eu_pPCE8

At our engineered wood products plant in Buckhannon, West Virginia, success isn’t merely a goal — it’s an ongoing journey fueled by teamwork and collaboration that has made Buckhannon one of our most consistent top performers in both safety and manufacturing reliability. And there’s no doubt that safety and manufacturing reliability go hand in hand: a safe operation tends to be reliable, and reliability enhances safety by reducing upsets. At Buckhannon, this interrelationship is driven by robust processes, effective communication, clear goals and process discipline. And it all starts with a focus on people and culture. “From operational reliability to fostering a culture of safety, our success stems from the collective effort of our team,” says Jason Hoffman, maintenance manager. Learn more about our Buckhannon plant, which won three internal Wood Products Awards last year for safety, reliability and breakthrough performance, and innovation. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay #safety https://lnkd.in/eqAY9qt7

At #ClimateWeekNYC, leaders from Weyerhaeuser’s Natural Climate Solutions and sustainability teams highlighted the essential role of forests and carbon markets in driving meaningful climate action. Through panel discussions and events, our team engaged stakeholders across our carbon platform and returned energized and eager to continue growing Weyerhaeuser’s positive climate impact.   “When we launched our Natural Climate Solutions business a few years ago, we recognized Weyerhaeuser could take a leading role in increasing awareness of working forests and lands as scalable climate solutions,” says Alicia Robbins, vice president of Portfolio Analytics and Business Development, adding that Climate Week NYC has become increasingly important as a forum for sharing our message and engaging in global conversations around climate.   Read more of our reflections from the week: https://lnkd.in/erJGyfGs #NaturalClimateSolutions #ClimateWeek

September 30 is an important day in Canada when we recognize and observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. This day was formally established as a Canadian federal holiday in 2021 to reflect on the painful and lasting impacts of residential schools on Indigenous people, and to honor survivors, their families and our communities. Throughout the past weekend, a number of our teams and sites across Canada took part in activities to commemorate, learn and raise awareness about this history.

On Saturday, Sept. 28, we proudly joined the celebration of the grand reopening of the Children's Discovery Museum in Kelso, Washington. When doors opened at the museum's new location — only a few miles from our lumber mill in Longview — among the attractions was a new quarterly exhibit sponsored by Weyerhaeuser and designed to teach children about working forests and sustainable wood products. The “Forestry in the Pacific Northwest” exhibit included a logging truck, heavy equipment simulator and company experts, and the rest of the display will be available through the end of 2024. Subscribers can read more about the community preview of the grand reopening. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay  https://lnkd.in/eybvcJMw

HR business partner Rachael Rich will never forget the human resources manager who helped her in a moment of uncertainty at one of her very first jobs. “I felt like she genuinely believed in me,” Rachael says. “I thought, ‘Wow, how cool would it be to help people build their confidence and grow their careers for a living?’” That experience prompted Rachael to earn a bachelor’s degree in human development with a minor in human resource management. “I want to make the same positive impact in someone else’s life that my first HR manager made in mine,” she says. “Today, I get to watch people start as interns and then develop into professionals with careers they love. In human resources, what can be more satisfying than that?” Learn more about Rachael's career with Weyerhaeuser. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay #meetourpeople https://lnkd.in/e95bHaxY
