We’re staying green and winning gold at Westfields Hospital & Clinic! We recently earned our eighth Greenhealth Emerald award from Practice Greenhealth, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to environmental stewardship in health care. This award honors organizations that have shown commitment to improving environmental performance and advancing sustainable practices. And it’s not just us! HealthPartners earned 18 awards organization-wide, including its 10th consecutive Systems for Change award, and all eight hospitals received awards for showing dedication to sustainable practices. “A clean environment is an important foundation for health and well-being,” says Allison Egan, HealthPartners sustainability program manager. “These awards reflect the dedication, passion and support we have at our organization as we work to keep sustainability at the forefront of our efforts to move the health care industry forward.” Visit our news release to learn more: https://shorturl.at/rif0M

Our green team came up with a sweet idea. To make a positive impact on the environment, the hospital campus began hosting a thriving honeybee colony, tended by a local beekeeper. In the fall he brings the honeycombs to an agriculture class at New Richmond High School, where students process the honey. This year, the bees produced enough honey to bottle up. The students loaded up 119 four-ounce jars of honey, most of which were raffled off to Westfields team members. The beekeeper, the students, Westfields Hospital, and the bees: All partners for good!

There was some mighty fine shootin’ going on at Westfields Hospital & Clinic Foundation’s 3rd annual Sporting Clays event last week. When it was all over, we’d raised more than $35,000 for the foundation’s Mission in Action Fund, which helps our entire community and ensures patients have quality care close to home. This year’s event welcomed 28 teams (up from 22 last year), with competitors ranging from high schoolers to retirees, with plenty of Westfields staff and community members in between. A big thank-you to all our participants, volunteers and sponsors! See you next year!

This past Wednesday was a beautiful day for a little friendly Sporting Clays competition at Game Unlimited, while raising over $35,000 for our Mission in Action Fund. This fund helps programs throughout our entire community, and ensures patients have quality care close to home. Our fundraising efforts were supported by many sponsors and we’re so grateful for their contribution! Special thanks to: Gold sponsors: Derrick Building Solutions LLC, Royal Credit Union, Minneapolis Radiation Oncology, P.A., and Jesse Kvitek-Thrivent Financial. Silver sponsors: Associated Eye Care, Bremer Bank, BWBR, Cedar Lake Speedway, Edward Jones, Nasseff Mechanical Contractors, New Richmond Chamber-Commerce, WESTconsin Credit Union, Westfields Physicians, Tire Pros, Syntegon, and Fleet. We’ll share some photos of the fun next week. Check back, you might see some familiar faces!

We shared a wonderful story on Mother’s Day about our colleagues making something special happen for Annie and her mother, Leya. It was so heartwarming that WCCO | CBS News Minnesota shared it too.
