Congratulations to Public Safety Communications team member Josh Rysavy, who earned a Lifesaver Award for a 911 call he assisted with in August! Rysavy provided response to an individual who had lost consciousness and was not breathing following a seizure. His actions were critical in helping to save the life of the individual. About us
Weld County covers an area of 3,999 square miles in north central Colorado. It is bordered on the north by Wyoming and Nebraska and on the south by the Denver metropolitan area. The third largest county in Colorado, Weld County has an area greater than that of Rhode Island, Delaware and the District of Columbia combined. The climate is dry and generally mild with warm summers, mild winters and a growing season of approximately 138 days. The land surface is fairly level in the east, with rolling prairies and low hills near the western border. Elevations in the county range from 4,400 to 5,000 feet.

Commissioner Scott James welcomed the Colorado Workforce Development Council (CWDC) to Weld County for their meeting at the LINC Library Innovation Center in downtown Greeley. The CWDC is a Governor-appointed public-private partnership that advises, oversees, and integrates the work of Colorado’s talent development network. In his opening remarks, Commissioner James highlighted the region's growth and emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing workforce challenges. He stated that together, we can build a stronger, more resilient workforce that meets the needs of our communities. Weld County’s own Tami Grant, Deputy Director of the Department of Human Services, and Lisa Taylor with The Weld Trust as well as a member of the Weld County Workforce Development Board, serve alongside the council. Also in attendance from the Weld County Workforce Development Board were current Board Chair Matt Horton from High Plains Library District and Bill Johnson from Yoder Family Corporations, who discussed his unique strategy for addressing challenges in their workforce sectors.
