Giving back by growing gardens! Volunteers from our DC and Fairfax offices recently joined forces with local non-profit OURSPACE WORLD INC to combat food insecurity rates, empower community elders, and encourage intergenerational bonding by helping build and prepare ADA-accessible planter beds for the community.                They worked hard, got their hands dirty, and had a rewarding time setting up deer-resistant fencing, building beds, clearing space in the greenhouse, weeding, and shoveling wood chips!   Great work to all the volunteers, you make amazing things bloom!                #RKKCares #WeAreRKK

We recently got a first-hand look at our innovative technology in action with Senior Technical Leader Tom Earp, GISP!   Tom used a LIDAR-equipped drone to create a comprehensive scan for The Public Works Experience at the historic Eastern Pumping Station in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor to aid in their future planning, design, and grant applications. Check out the video below to see how this works and how the geospatial data collected in this way can aid design and create accurate 3D modeling!   #WeAreRKK

#NationalWaterQualityMonth is coming to a close, but our Water Resources team continues to provide services that protect our waterways and water bodies! For example, our Baltimore and Atlanta Water Resources Environmental experts are supporting several county and municipal clients, such as Morgan State University, Gwinnett County Government, and Harford County Government, in managing and executing their National Pollution Discharge Elimination System Municipal Separate Storm Sewer (MS4) permits. MS4 permits are intended to address pollution from stormwater discharges from municipal systems and require the implementation of best management practices and various programs to reduce pollution discharges and maintain healthy streams and watersheds. RK&K’s Water Resources team is well-versed in all aspects of the MS4 permit, check out the graphic for just a snapshot of what they can do to help our clients achieve these important environmental goals! #WeAreRKK

Our inspectors go to great lengths, and great heights, to get the job done! Check out these photos of our Baltimore and Richmond team members performing a safety inspection on the 3,750-foot-long George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge in Yorktown, VA - the largest double swing-span bridge in the United States! This is part of the team's ongoing work for the Virginia Department of Transportation's Hampton Roads District, which includes 180 safety inspections of highway structures and bridges, 50 inspections for structural load ratings, and 2,300 inspections on ancillary structures, including 350 overhead signs, 1,800 lighting and camera poles, and 150 traffic signals! #WeAreRKK

Congratulations to Project Manager Jason Burton on being honored with the Georgia Section American Water Works Association’s 2024 William J. Greene, Jr. award, which recognizes those who go above and beyond to support the mission of the organization through industry leadership!   Jason has been a member of GAWP for four years, most recently serving as chairman of the Communications Committee of the Georgia Section of AWWA ever since. Through various communication platforms, his efforts in this role promoted and raised attendance for fundraising events benefiting water-related charities. He also works to recognize the achievements of operator and student scholarship recipients, ensuring the water sector has the necessary workforce in the future.   Way to go on this well-deserved honor, Jason!   The Georgia Association of Water Professionals educates, provides professional development, and promotes sound public policy in the water resources and related environmental fields by providing reliable information on Georgia's water resources for water professionals, decision makers, the media, and the public.   #RKKProud #WeAreRKK
