Fans were treated to a special night at Real Salt Lake's recent match! At halftime, we had the privilege of recognizing a deserving candidate with WCF's annual "Father of the Year" award. The award was followed by the annual "Teddy Bear Toss," where fans threw over 5,500 stuffed bears onto America First Field to be donated to several organizations in the community. The Dr. Paul S. Richards Safe Workplace Scholarship Program was initiated by WCF in partnership with the University of Utah's Rocky Mountain Center in 1997. This program facilitates the education and training of people committed to a career of protecting workers and keeping workplaces safe. This year, 19 recipients were recognized as they look forward to pursuing their academic goals. Jeremy Biggs, the luncheon's keynote speaker for 2024, said, “This scholarship is about more than just financially supporting students, it’s about honoring the work of Paul S. Richards and investing in the resources, technology, and professionals that can help care for injured workers.” #WeAreWCF

On March 8, 1924, a coal mine in Castle Gate, Utah experienced a series of violent explosions, resulting in the deaths of 172 men. Many of the brave miners lost in this tragedy left behind spouses and children, their husbands and fathers taken from them in an instant. With the passage of the Workmen’s Compensation Act seven years earlier, these families had access to benefits to help them carry the financial burden of their loss. A century later, we remember and honor these fallen workers and continue our commitment to supporting local workers and their families. #WCFWednesday #WeAreWCF

This summer’s internship program has come to a close, and we want to thank the interns who joined us for the past few months!
