This past Thursday, I experienced something every pet parent dreads. My partner wasn’t home, so our dog Aspen and I were on our own. Around one in the morning, I noticed Aspen was having trouble breathing and acting strange. I’ll spare LinkedIn the video, but suffice to say it was terrifying. In a panic, I called the ER vet, but the video file I tried to send through was too large, and I got nowhere. So I turned to VETalk, Wagmo’s 24/7 virtual pet care service. Despite the early hour, I got an instant response and in under five minutes confirmed that an ER visit was urgently needed. I didn’t think twice about admitting her: I have Wagmo Insurance, so I was covered. Poor Aspen had a severe case of kennel cough, a high fever, and an elevated respiratory rate. Fortunately, they were able to catch and treat it before it developed into pneumonia. After a night of fluids and antibiotics, Aspen was feeling much better. The cost of the ER visit? $3K. My cost? $30 for our Uber ride to the ER. That’s it. Emergencies like this are exactly why I believe every pet parent needs insurance. You shouldn’t have to choose between your pet’s safety and your financial stability. And it’s why I am so proud to have founded Wagmo: to give pet parents peace of mind in moments of crisis and in everyday care. As for Aspen, don’t worry, folks.
