We are making spirits bright at the VOA National Office! Leading up to the holidays, our team came together for a gift exchange, a cookie exchange, and ended the week by dropping off gifts at our nearby Mary Marshall Assisted Living Residency. The gifts we collected for Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS)’ Mary Marshall community made sure each senior had a gift to unwrap on Christmas morning. There’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit! 🎄 ✨

About us
At Volunteers of America, we are more than a nonprofit organization. We are a ministry of service that includes 16,000 paid, professional employees dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential. Through our hundreds of human service programs, including housing and healthcare, Volunteers of America touches the lives of 1.5 million people in over 400 communities in 46 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico each year. Since 1896, we have supported and empowered America's most vulnerable groups, including veterans, at-risk youth, the frail elderly, men and women returning from prison, homeless individuals and families, people with disabilities, and those recovering from addictions. Our work touches the mind, body, heart — and ultimately the spirit — of those we serve, integrating our deep compassion with highly effective programs and services. Approximately 60,000 volunteers throughout the country help our employees deliver these life-changing services

As more Americans face poverty, federal legislation like the Charitable Act will incentivize donors to support nonprofits like VOA and our transformative programs. Without this tax policy, individual donors continue to decline in rapid numbers. On #GivingTuesday, our VP of Public Policy Sarah Fitch sat down with Nexstar Media Group, Inc. to talk about the importance of democratizing giving. We continue to promote the charitable donations for nonprofit organizations as a partner of the Charitable Giving Coalition. Watch the segment: https://lnkd.in/ejN6yq3f

In the spirit of gratitude, we thank all the supporters, partners, and sponsors who provided relief efforts to the communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. 🙏 Mere hours after the hurricane subsided, the VOA team came together to assemble essential resources for the 100+ residents we serve in Asheville so they could continue receiving the highest quality of care. Thank you for being part of our work to build #healthycommunities4all. Last week, our staff set up a Thanksgiving dinner for 100+ seniors and people with disabilities in Asheville, North Carolina. After Hurricane Helene devastated the area – damaging infrastructure, contaminating water, and interrupting cell service – the residents we serve found reprieve at our gratitude celebration. Our Chief Ministry Officer James A. Marshall, Jr. led a service for the group before everyone was treated with a feast. Thank you to the many hands who helped us give back to those in need this Thanksgiving 🦃
