To&Through does such incredible work to help make sure all stakeholders in Chicago have access to the data we need to get the full picture of public education outcomes in Chicago. We are so incredibly grateful for all they do.
Chalkbeat Chicago covered our new report with the University of Chicago Consortium on School Research that looks at educational milestones for Chicago’s high school graduates, including graduation rates, college enrollment, and college completion, outlining some key findings like: - Chicago Public Schools’ class of 2023 had a high school graduation rate of 85%, an all-time high for the district. - In addition, college enrollment rates for Chicago students are rebounding from the COVID-19 pandemic and college completion rates remain steady. - If current rates hold, 31% of current CPS ninth-graders would complete a college credential within 10 years. We are so proud of the opportunity we had to bring Lisa Gao onto our team for a paid internship this summer. It was an incredibly valuable experience for us to invest in and learn from such a bright young leader, and we're looking forward to seeing the positive impact Lisa will have on the world in the years to come. We encourage you to watch the video linked below to learn more about Lisa's experience as a Braven fellow and intern with Vivo this summer.
"Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better than your better is best." -Tim Duncan
Many of us know that internships offer invaluable experience and open doors to future opportunities. I am inspired by the conversation between Chelsea Dawkins of the Vivo Foundation and Lisa Gao, an intern at Vivo Foundation this summer, a BravenX Fellow, and a rising senior at Harvard University. They discuss the transformative impact of internships on young people's lives, which you can watch here: https://lnkd.in/gkC6e6Nm By prioritizing paid internships that provide students with real-world experience, Vivo Foundation and employer partners that work with Braven are investing in the next generation of leaders like Lisa!
