A complex interplay of biological, clinical, neurological, and situational risk factors, suicidality requires a distinct program of care.  Often suicide prevention efforts fail because they focus too much on mental-health focused solutions, as opposed to considering the highly complex risk factors relating to suicide. At Vita Health, we’ve developed a clinically validated suicide intervention model that addresses suicidality as its own issue, separate from other mental health diagnoses. September is #SuicidePreventionMonth, but it is an important topic at any time. CVS Health has implemented a comprehensive strategy to reduce suicide attempts 20% among Aetna, a CVS Health Company® members by the year 2025 and have made significant progress towards this goal - demonstrating 16% reduction at the end of the year 2023. I am proud at CVS Health Ventures to contribute to that goal through our investments in suicide prevention targeted companies, Vita Health and Oui Therapeutics as well as working with many of our other portfolio companies who have implemented protocol and strategies to address the needs of members with suicide risk.
