The conference is dynamic and put together by a great leadership team that includes Visión y Compromiso staff, agency leaders, and promotoras from various regions. It is also a conference packed with information and resources. And of course, it includes fun! I save the date on my calendar for the next conference as soon as it is announced. Women’s Equality Day is celebrated to honor the passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, passed in 1920, which granted women the right to vote in the United States. Today, we honor the lives and sacrifices of women who sought to change the Constitution to ensure women's right to vote. And we honor the promotoras who have paved the way to ensure Latinos use their right to vote. How else can we celebrate? Register to vote! Plan to support your communities in knowing about the upcoming general elections. And vote on Tuesday, November 5th. You can also read President Biden's Proclamation on Women’s Equality Day, 2024. "Su salud está en sus manos" (your health is in your hands) is a program carried out by Visión y Compromiso in collaboration with White Memorial Community Health Center (WMCHC), the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and Rising Communities. It represents our implementation of the Community Public Health Teams pilot. Witness our efforts firsthand! A nurse from White Memorial CHC and community health workers (promotoras) from Visión y Compromiso, along with the Su salud está en sus manos team, visit every household in Boyle Heights to provide information, resources, and on-site referrals for healthcare services.
