Meet Travis, a resilient and determined student whose journey from childhood interests to a promising career in technology is truly inspiring. As the youngest in a family with seven older siblings, Travis learned independence early. His love for video games, particularly The Sims, sparked a lifelong interest in technology. But his passions extended beyond the screen; he found joy in the outdoors and became a swim instructor, teaching kids how to swim and showcasing leadership at a young age. Middle school wasn’t easy, with Travis facing social challenges and feelings of isolation. However, with his grandmother's unwavering support, he began to build confidence, especially in 7th grade. This newfound self-assurance carried him into high school, where he joined the math club and discovered his passion for technology through AutoCAD. This experience ignited a spark that would shape his future. After high school, Travis worked at Parks and Recreation, where his leadership qualities stood out. His career took a significant turn when he was offered a trainee position as a water plant operator. Travis excelled in this role, passing the licensing exam on his first try, and demonstrating a self-taught approach to learning that would serve him well in the future. His journey into software engineering began with a mentor at his water treatment job and was further fueled by a friend who built his business website. Despite challenges in implementing his projects, Travis’s persistence never wavered. When initially rejected by Veroskills, he advocated for himself, refusing to take no for an answer. Travis’s story is a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of never giving up. His journey from video game enthusiast to aspiring software engineer shows that with perseverance and a willingness to learn, anything is possible. Travis embodies the qualities of a true innovator, pushing boundaries and setting new standards for himself every step of the way. We’re proud to spotlight Travis and can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next!

What an honor to be one of the select attendees at the Tent Partnership for Refugees US Business Summit yesterday in NYC at Pfizer HQ. I didn't have official refugee designation when moving to US at age 10, but my family was effectively forced to flee Pakistan to come due to the government corruption there. They jailed my father and confiscated all of our money. My parents had to restart our lives in the US with 4 kids. Now to be able to work in this space to help those displaced rebuild their lives and find a dignified and sustainable career in AI/Tech through the work we are doing at VeroSkills warms my soul. Major kudos to Gideon Maltz, Yaron Schwartz, and team for a phenomenal gathering. And of course extremely inspired by Hamdi Ulukaya for founding Tent and being the visionary he is.

Today, Gateway85 Gwinnett CID had the honor of sponsoring Partnership Gwinnett Gwinnett's Annual Economic Outlook event, joining esteemed colleagues and community members to gain invaluable insights. Dr. Alfie Meek, Director of the Center for Economic Development Research at the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute, delivered an illuminating address, shedding light on the current economic climate of Gwinnett County, recognized as the most diverse county in the USA. His analysis of trends impacting Gwinnett's economy provided us with a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities ahead, including the recent 13.6% year-over-year decline in Atlanta's commercial real estate market. We were thrilled to connect with outstanding individuals like Daniel Walsh and Joseph Cyriac . Their commitment to supporting newcomers with education-cording programs is truly commendable. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event: Nicholas "Nick" F. Masino ,Deven Cason , Lisa Sherman , Haley Tolbert, and all team from Partnership Gwinnett. Thank you 🙏 #Gateway85 #PartnershipGwinnett #EconomicOutlook
