Congratulations to the staff at Fundación Centro Oncológico de Galicia for treating the first patients on their recently installed Halcyon radiotherapy system with HyperSight imaging solution!   For the population of Coruña and the rest of Galicia (Spain), these new treatment tools will help to bring cutting-edge treatment options to cancer patients in need.   When discussing the future promise of this new system, Dr. Carlos Fernández Fernández, Head of Medical Physics, commented that their Halcyon has been “… extremely efficient and easy to use, and will allow us to increase our standards of quality in radiotherapy. HyperSight CBCT is truly impressive, both their speed of acquisition as their image definition”.   Dr. Alfonso Mariño Cotelo, Head of Radiation Oncology, added that the system “... significantly reduces treatment time, resulting in greater comfort for the patient. All with the greatest precision and safety”.

Varian is honored to be a part of the "18th Western China Conference on Radiation Oncology,” one of the most influential academic conferences for radiation therapy in China.   Jack Yang, Director of AOS Clinical Services in the region, had the privilege of talking with regional experts about recent advances in adaptive radiotherapy and what this technology can do for cancer patients in China. It's estimated that over 1.2 million venous thromboembolism (VTE) cases occur in the U.S. every year, with incidence among cancer patients three-to-seven times higher than the overall population.   This condition can pose serious risk for patients, and often requires specialist intervention to treat. However, new advances in non-surgical management of VTE are poised to improve patient outcomes and reduce the impact of this ailment. https://bit.ly/4fXdpEf

Congratulations to the team at Nova Scotia Health Authority, led by Assistant Professor Lee MacDonald, who recently published a paper assessing the feasibility of CT simulation-free adaptive radiation therapy using the Ethos therapy system equipped with HyperSight imaging solution.   In this paper, using an in-house workflow, CT simulation-free radiation therapy was shown to be feasible with acceptable workflow efficiency and dosimetric accuracy.
