Patients are consumers. They’re motivated by products and services that make life simpler. And despite new developments in remote care and AI, patients still express their preferences through a metric as old as commerce itself: customer satisfaction. https://bit.ly/3uqBv7b

This was a fun discussion! Thanks Bryce Platt, PharmD for moderating and Jared Pelo and Robbie Allen for the invitation. I love talking about the future of healthcare and what we can do to better help realize the full potential of health data today. Thanks also Bionic Health for hosting.

Longevity medicine (and most long-term health approaches) are misaligned with incentives in the US healthcare system. —- Yesterday was our monthly local meetup for The HealthTech Triangle (email signup in the comments) where I moderated a panel on longevity medicine sponsored by Bionic Health Unfortunately, one of our panelists had to drop with short notice, but we still had no issues talking about the landscape of #LongevityMedicine (aka medicine 3.0) and technology. —- A few of the topics we covered as part of the discussion: -How does longevity medicine differ from direct primary care, concierge care, or advanced primary care? -What role can health technology play in making longevity-focused interventions more accessible and effective in #PrimaryCare ? -What are the most promising tech innovations that could impact preventive medicine in the next several years? (Then I asked which companies to invest in based on those answers). -How is success measured/defined in preventive medicine? -What are the potential risks/downsides of integrating preventive medicine into primary care? -How could we change medical education and US #HealthPolicy to better align with longevity medicine goals? The answers included examples of customers that were having success under this approach, including one of the panelists recently himself. —- Overall, longevity medicine is an approach that should be considered more often in #USHealthcare The main issue is misaligned incentives with long-term health vs acute treatments.
