About us

At the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Human Ecology (SoHE), we study families, finances, communities, commerce, design, environments, and well-being to build a better world. Alumni careers include: • Financial advisors and coaches  • Community organizers and nonprofit leaders  • Retail, marketing, and data analysts  • Fashion, textile, and interior designers  • Design strategists  • Healthcare workers  • Educators  Out faculty and staff contribute to UW’s Research I institution, the Wisconsin Idea, and beyond. And, SoHE’s undergraduate and graduate students build skills and knowledge through coursework that embraces real-world experiences, research, and outreach.   Undergrad majors: • Interior Architecture • Textiles & Fashion Design • Personal Finance • Community & Nonprofit Leadership • Human Development & Family Studies • Consumer Behavior & Marketplace Studies + a range of advanced degrees, certificates, and minors.  We are human ecologists and Badgers.   On, Wisconsin!
