If you are looking for a destination in Salt Lake Valley, take a gander at Millcreek’s new City Hall. With the roots taking hold of an emerging downtown, Millcreek City took to understanding what residents wanted—then constructing the 80,000-SF City Hall with assistance from MHTN Architects, Okland Construction, BHB Structural, and many other project team members. Unique choices in design and construction are present throughout the structure. The use of ASTM C595 type IL cement for structural concrete showed the project’s commitment to more sustainable construction while the geometrical exterior metal shade is an eye-catching design choice that mitigates heat gain and lightens the burden on the mechanical system. Add in the CLT roof, and you have a design and construction gem—and a destination for residents seeking to take care of city business and enjoy Millcreek's growing downtown. A panel of eight industry professionals handed out awards to 37 projects from more than 80 submissions including West Quarter (Phase 1) which earned the coveted ‘Project of the Year’ award.
