Temporary staffing & support services, serving Seattle since 1921. Creating Empowerment through Employment.

About us

For over 100 years, Uplift Northwest, a Seattle nonprofit, has guided people on their path to self-sufficiency by providing employment and job readiness services. We believe a job is empowering and provides hope, strength, courage, confidence, purpose, and an opportunity to stabilize one’s life. Income earned through our staffing operation can be the difference between hunger, eviction, and getting a person’s family off the streets. By removing barriers, we provide dignified work opportunities and support services to nearly 1,000 individuals annually experiencing poverty and homelessness – offering a job, a hot meal, a shower, laundry services, vision care, transportation passes, career coaching, medical, dental, cell phone, computer training, and work certification, all in one location. In the past few years, hundreds of Uplift Northwest clients earned permanent job placements and housing referrals, and this translates to significant taxpayer dollars saved in public service expenses. You can hire workers for your next job, donate to the cause, and find out more by visiting www.upliftnw.org.

Uplift Northwest provides comprehensive employment training, support services, and job placement for adults aged 18 and older involved with the justice system. By meeting individuals where they are, we equip them with the skills needed for workforce success and help break the cycle of poverty. Our goal is to support reintegration into society through tailored training and support. These complex challenges require everyone’s collective effort.

Why do you serve on the Board of ULNW? "I joined the Uplift Northwest Board when I lived near the Belltown office before COVID to support my neighbors. After moving to Edmonds, I continued to serve because Uplift's formula works. We give individuals the tools to build their confidence and capability, leading to paid work and continuous improvement in their lives". - Anne Schlosser

The homelessness situation in King County has seen a marked increase, with the most recent Point-in-Time (PIT) count estimating that approximately 16,385 people are experiencing homelessness on any given night in the county. This represents a 23% increase compared to the 2022 count, highlighting the severity of the homelessness crisis in the region. At Uplift Northwest, formerly known as the Millionair Club Charity, the primary reason individuals seek assistance is their desire to work. This reflects a strong motivation among those experiencing homelessness to gain employment as a means of improving their situation. Partner with us to pave the way to self-sufficiency. www.upliftnw.org
