About us
The School of Nursing offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the Master of Science in Nursing, a Doctor of Philosophy and a Doctor of Nursing Practice, a post master's degree program provided in a hybrid format. The BSN and MSN programs are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the accrediting organization for undergraduate and master's level professional nursing education, and the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program is accredited by the National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses.

Long-Term Care Educational Opportunities Now Available The Texas Department of Health and Human Services and The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing are pleased to announce a collaborative effort to improve long-term care in Texas. This partnership includes updating eight web-based courses delivering best practices education to providers of long-term care in Texas nursing homes. All eight courses in the series of educational modules are available: • Quality Improvement for Long-term care • Advanced Geriatric Practice • Serious Mental Illnesses • Transitions to Practice (NEW) • Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (NEW) • Culture Change for Person-Centered Care • Reducing Anti-psychotic Drug Use in Long-term Care Facilities • Infection Control and Prevention Each course provides education and resources for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and direct care staff, residents, and their family members and will help guide the decision-making process and improve care using evidence-based best practices. Continuing education credit is available for registered nurses, certified nurse aides and licensed nursing facility administrators. Registration is free.
