Developing values-based, impact-driven leaders.

About us

Leadership Dawgs is a leadership development program, available only to UGA alumni (undergrad or graduate program), that teaches personal and professional leadership. The program, which includes two on-site weekends at the Terry Executive Education Center in ATL, challenges UGA alums to unlock their potential to: - Maximize their leadership capacity - Optimize their team's performance - Cultivate a diverse professional network - Create impact in the state of Georgia At the end of the first-weekend meeting, the students–Leadership Dawgs–having identified their strengths, values, and motivations, then work in teams to execute a six-month Community Impact Project (CIP) aimed at supporting the needs of a Georgia-based nonprofit. Through this community engagement, Leadership Dawgs begin their journey to create impact in their communities To wrap up the program, Leadership Dawgs return to attend content sessions and share the outcomes of their CIPs. A panel of Leadership Dawgs faculty evaluates the CIPs and identifies the top three teams who will share in prize money up to $10,000.

  • Our nonprofit partner, esp, inc., is dedicated to serving as a beacon of support for disabled individuals and their families by providing vital resources and assistance to those in need. Leadership Dawgs Katelyn Bond, Bridget Sattele, Molly Richardson, UXMC, and Grace Kerner are developing an outreach strategy to connect with businesses and enhance volunteer recruitment and management. “ESP’s Atlanta location is in my hometown, the proximity has allowed me to connect organizations and companies tailored to help ESP grow their community and volunteer base. This process has pushed our team that is spread out geographically to deliver an impactful service to ESP, and it’s been an incredible experience so far!” commented Sattele, one of the team members.

  • This month, we are proud to highlight our Leadership Dawgs working with The Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in northeast Georgia. The Foundation provides financial assistance for basic life needs such as housing, utilities, transportation and medications to cancer patients living in a 25-county service area. Zane Malas, Chris Buchholz, Brendon Mack, M. ASCE, Carter Glenn and Teodor Simeonov are collaborating to develop a plan to establish the Foundation's Giving Circle. Their initiative involves outlining roles, responsibilities, recruitment strategies and sustainability plans for Giving Circle members.

A big thank you and congratulations to the Helping Mamas Leadership Dawgs team! Our team placed second among 13 teams which helped us secure a $3,000 prize. This program supports UGA alumni to work in teams to execute a six-month Community Impact Project (CIP) aimed at supporting the needs of a Georgia-based nonprofit. Through this community engagement, Leadership Dawgs begin their journey to create an impact in their communities. The Helping Mamas team worked this past year to ·      Develop a community needs assessment for rural Georgia and metro Atlanta based on community/government data. ·      Research and identify potential clients/partners in rural communities based on need (underserved and under-resourced communities). ·      Develop strategies for expansion to include new mobile distribution sites. Special thanks to our team members Stephanie Mann, Anesia Sandifer, Emily Garmon, and Naome Seifu for all their hard work and commitment to the mission of Helping Mamas. Our University of Georgia - Leadership Dawgs worked with Georgia-based nonprofits to execute Community Impact Projects (CIPs) and the three most impactful groups were awarded grants to help fund their nonprofits into the future.

On March 1-2, we held our third University of Georgia - Leadership Dawgs Conference at the Terry Executive Education Center in Atlanta. Leadership Dawgs worked with Georgia-based nonprofits to execute Community Impact Projects (CIPs) and the three most impactful groups were awarded grants to help fund their nonprofits into the future. We want to recognize these three CIP projects' lasting impact on their communities. First Place: Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer The Leadership Dawg participants partnered with Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer to host a 5k Fun Run in Athens, GA. Hosting this inaugural event in an area outside Atlanta was an important organizational milestone in expanding the impact and reach of the organization. The team of, Katie Kraft, Sarah Geary, Claire Williams, and Anna Hemmati, raised $13,310 from the event, which can go directly towards screening and diagnostic mammograms. Second Place: Helping Mamas, Inc. Helping Mamas, the baby supply bank for Georgia, needed assistance in becoming a more data-driven organization with strategies to better serve high-need areas across the state. Leadership Dawgs, Stephanie Purvis, Sidney Counsell, Leanna Brown, and Katie Waters, completed a community needs assessment to identify unique high-need areas and connected the organization to 45 potential new distribution partners. Third Place: Camp Horizon, Inc Camp Horizon serves youth and families impacted by foster care in the metro Atlanta area, restoring hope and dignity to end the cycle of abuse and neglect. Leadership Dawgs, David Floyd, Meryl Preis, Anesia Sanderifer, and Wilheem Perez, executed their project by designing a mentorship program and outlined effective program management strategies and an evaluation timeline.
