Meet Manuel, our talented Senior Scenic Designer behind the house design and architecture of "Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America" — one of the original content haunted houses at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights (HHN). To ensure every detail was just right, Manuel infused the house with authentic Latin American artwork and coloring, drawn from his Puerto Rican roots. "People fall in love with our sets because they look so real," Manuel says. "That’s what makes our houses so unique, the level of reality we strive for." What does it take to move a 53,000-pound Banyan tree 75 feet in under 30 minutes? A crane, the expertise of our skilled Team Members and a lot of teamwork! Earlier this year, teams across Tech Services, Horticulture, Facilities, Utilities, Security and EHS helped relocate our iconic Banyan tree at Universal Volcano Bay. Though the tree remains near the entrance, just a few steps away from where it previously stood, the roots needed more room to grow so the tree could continue playing its vital role in the park’s ecosystem, offering shade, enhancing the scenery and contributing to the overall Guest experience. "Our goal is always to protect and nurture the natural beauty of our parks," says JJ Loshinskey, Vice President of Tech Services - Facilities and Utilities. "This move ensures that the Banyan will thrive for years to come."

Every Tuesday during Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month, our Team Member dining locations are offering a taste of authentic culture by offering different dishes based on recipes submitted by their own Team Members. 🍽️ Naomy Fernandez, Cash Coordinator at The Forklift at Universal Epic Universe, will see the debut of her Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Chicken Breast on October 8. This dish was passed down by her grandmother and reminds her of the 16 years she lived in Caguas, Puerto Rico. “I’m grateful my leaders gave us the opportunity to share our dishes, not just from Puerto Rico, but from our whole Hispanic and Latino community,” she says. “The fact that Universal celebrates us like this is really exciting.”
