Our #80x3 team continues to spread the word about trauma-sensitive care! In a new piece co-authored in Exchange Press, 80x3 program officer Jamie Bonczyk discusses how trauma-sensitive care can help children develop their executive functioning – giving them the tools for success in school, their relationships, the workplace and more. "By embracing trauma-informed care and fostering executive function skills, we create environments where all children, regardless of their backgrounds, have equal opportunities to succeed." We were extremely honored and proud to be in the room last night at the Greater Twin Cities United Way Tocqueville Society Dinner to support our good friends Justin and Desirae Butler, as they were recognized with the 2024 Civic Leadership Award! I couldn’t agree more with Kiera Fernandez, who introduced the Butlers and said that “nothing small is driven from their impact…just monumental change.” I love that Desirae shared her passion of “being an ambassador to bringing others into philanthropy.” Well done! #giveback #liveunited

Executive | Entrepreneur | Philanthropist | Board Director | Podcast host, Conversations with Chanda
Yesterday, I had the privilege of hosting a live episode of 'Conversations with Chanda' at the Interfaith Series: Criminal Justice event, organized by the Greater Twin Cities United Way. It was an enriching experience discussing actionable ways to drive change in legal system reform with Sheena Meade, a renowned expert in the field and CEO of The Clean Slate Initiative. The event also featured poignant panel discussions moderated by Olivia Jefferson (she/her), where faith and justice leaders like Imam Imam Asad Zaman, Earl Miller, Justin Terrell, Micheal Goze, and others shared their insights. These conversations illuminated the vital role that faith communities play in advocating for and achieving meaningful reform. I am deeply grateful to everyone who joined us—leaders like #PJHubbard, #RabbiZimmerman, #RevJimBearJacobs, Elijah McDavid, and Shannon (Smith) Jones, along with organizations such as the Minnesota Council of Churches and Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, for their commitment to this cause. The dialogue didn't just end at the event; it sparked further conversations about how we can collectively work towards a more just and equitable legal system. Thank you to all the participants for a truly transformative experience. Let’s keep this momentum going. #CriminalJusticeReform #LegalSystemReform #InterfaithDialogue #SocialChange

#Halloween is just around the corner! As you greet your trick-or-treaters, keep in mind that *half* of all children in the U.S. live in families that either are in poverty or are ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), unable to afford basics. So, to help each child you meet have a great holiday, remember: 🎃 Don't comment on how they're dressed. Their families may live on tight budgets and may not have the time or money to invest in a costume. 🎃 Don't comment on their age. Older kids want to enjoy the holiday, too – and candy might be a rare treat. 🎃 Do offer them treats and wish them a Happy Halloween!
